Milano Design Week starting now

Ruckstuhl and designer Stephan Hürlemann are presenting the Fellow Project with the unique Fellow rugs at gallery «Assab One» during Milan Design Week 2023. The exhibition not only presents a new rug collection with unique pieces, but also shows new processes, services and rituals that should help to improve the eco-balance of rugs.

Milano Design Week

Ruckstuhl and Stephan Hürlemann present the Fellow rugs and their mission (to improve the eco-balance of products) during Milano Design Week 2023 in the exhibition "Fellow - Metamorphosis of a Rug". The scenography is set up in a gallery space of Assab One, a former printing fabric in the northeast of Milan. The exhibition is supported by DAAily platforms.

The fibers are fixed

Jonas from Ruckstuhl sprays the compound of synthetic latex onto the back of FELLOW Tapetum fluviale001 and fixes the fibers in the base fabric. Ruckstuhl has commissioned a study so that natural latex can soon be used for this process.

Today FELLOW Tapetum fluviale 001 is manufactured!

The Fellow Tapetum fluviale 001 is tufted at the Ruckstuhl manufactory in Langental. In the process, the tufting robot needles the pure new wool onto a carrier fabric made of latex. Michele is the carpet expert who accompanies and executes the process.

Its five colors

FELLOW Tapetum fluviale 001 will be made from these spools of yarn this week. The pure new wool has traveled a long way from New Zealand to Switzerland. Ruckstuhl would like to avoid this environmental impact in the future. That is why the manufacturer is busy looking for suitable producers in the vicinity.

Next week FELLOW Tapetum fluviale001 will be produced in the oldest carpet manufactory in Switzerland. Ruckstuhl is located in Langenthal in the canton of Bern. The company, which employs around 25 people, has been making high-quality carpets from natural fibers since 1881.

One of a kind

This Fellow is unique in the world. His graphic is only available once and is only tufted into a rug once. The Non-Fungible Token (NFT) that represents him in the digital world also looks like this graphic. Once purchased, it will be in the owner's DAAily Wallet.

FELLOW Tapetum fluviale 001

FELLOW Tapetum fluviale 001 was "cut out" from this pattern with 14 other Fellows. It is the first of its kind (fulviale) and belongs to the genus Tapetum (carpet) like all other Fellow rugs.
